Featured Artist at the Crossnore Gallery in Crossnore NC
Teresa will be the featured artist in October at the Crossnore Gallery in nearby Crossnore North Carolina. According to Teresa,"The title of my show is “Fields of Castile”. This work is based upon the major Spanish poet Antonio Machado’s book of the same title. With this art project, I got a Grant from the Regional Artists Project of Northwest North Carolina. The exhibition will be open until November 4th." There will be a reception there in her honor on Thursday October 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Crossnore School, not far from Boone NC, is a truly special place with a long history of housing and educating children who come from homes and family situations which cannot properly sustain them. They take children from throughout North Carolina and set their lives on new and better courses. The school has a special association with the arts starting with the Crossnore Weavers, students who made woven goods to sell to raise money for the school. Today, the Crossnore Gallery displays and sells art and crafts from the best artists in the region. According to the school's website: "A significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of artwork in the gallery helps to support the Stepping Stones Program, targeted at the needs of teens who have been emancipated by their home county Departments of Social Services but still want to continue their education."
